SMHS DANCE PROGRAM
San Marcos High School houses a thriving dance program including four different dance teams as well as several other dance placement classes. Each team and class is uniquely designed to train the student in various styles of dance, critical thinking skills, choreography in addition to providing them with numerous performance opportunities.
Varsity Dance

The Varsity Dance Team is an elite audition based team and class that provides students with many performance opportunities.These opportunities range from competition, bi-annual production length performances as well as opportunities to perform in our student centered choreography show. Students involved in this class also learn valuable theatre tech skills, media editing as well as leadership skills.

JV Dance

The JV Dance Team is an advanced level audition based team and class that provides students with many performance opportunities as well as guidance to improving dance technique. These opportunities range from competition, bi-annual production length performances as well as opportunities to perform in our student centered choreography show.

Cavalier Dance
|
The Cavalier Dance Team is an intermediate level audition based team and class that provides students with many performance opportunities. Students will exhibition at our home competition, perform in our bi-annual full length performances as well as our culminating year end choreography show.

All Male Dance
|
The All Male Dance Team is a unique audition based team and class experience. All students have performance opportunities ranging from competition, bi-annual production length performances as well as opportunities to perform in our student centered choreography show.

Dance 3 |
Dance 3 is our intermediate/advanced level non-competitive dance class. Dancers learn and review fundamental dance theories and choreography skills alongside our dance team students. This class is intended for those preparing for dance team or those who are looking to perform in dance through a non-competitive lens. Dance 3 performs at our annual Fall Production, Dance Extravaganza Showcase and Cavalcade.

Dance 2 |
Dance 2 is our intermediate level dance class. Dancers learn and review fundamental dance theories and choreography skills at a fast past. Dance 2 performs at our annual Fall Production as well as our Dance Extravaganza Showcase.

Dance 1 |
Dance 1 is our introductory level dance class. Students learn fundamental dance skills and start to develop choreography skills while earning PE or elective credit. Dance 1 performs at our Dance Extravaganza Showcase.
